BOOK: MELBOURNE HALL GARDEN: PAINTERLY PLANTINGS
In 2016 I was ommissioned by House & Garden magazine to photograph the gardens of Melbourne Hall.
After the shoot, the owner, artist Marie-Claire Kerr (now Lady Lothian) commissioned me to document the historic
gardens throught the year with a view to creating a book.
Her contemporay twists of painterly planting have turned a treasure of early 1700s English garden design into a
notable landscape of the 21 century.
The photographic project became a labour of love and I have returned time and time again travelling from
Scotland to Derbyshire to document it through it’s develpment and capture it’s atmosphere during the seasonal
changes.
The book has now been written by Jodie Jones and is published by Frances Lincoln.
There will be a celebration book launch on 30th September at The Garden Museum, Lambeth.
