KATE PETERS
A LEGACY OF SOUND TO PREMIERE AT LONDON INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
Excited to be showing an entirely new series of work 8Embodied Fictions9 at Host in Leyton as part of Photomonth.
The work explores the relationship between performance and identity through portraits of female and non-binary
clowns. Clowns stand outside of, or are marginalised by society - unbound by conventional social roles, clowns are
free to explore ideas around gender and the grotesque, challenging the societal expectations placed on women.
The work is not about stripping away the mask to find a 8truth9, instead it suggests that a truth can be found in the
performance.
I will be previewing the work and launching an accompanying zine on Thursday 23rd October 2025 from 6pm.
Private view Thurs 23rd October 6-9pm
Exhibition continues Fri-Sun 10am-5pm.
