Issue 8_Focus from the AOP_August 2026 - Flipbook - Page 3
WORD FROM OUR CEO
Isabelle Doran, CEO - The Association of Photographers
As the summer draws to a close, we9re hoping autumn
brings a renewed focus on commissioning photographers
and image-makers for their original, artistic and conceptual
creativity. This edition showcases some of our members9
amazing work, either as personal projects, finalists for
awards, new published books, and recent commissions.
Our campaigning saw incredible support for our creative
industry Transparency Petition requesting the Government
introduce a statutory duty requiring AI developers to
disclose their training data – whereby creators need
transparency about how creative works are used in AI
training, accountability from AI companies, and legal
protections that respect creative rights. We did it! Well
done to everyone who signed the petition - we managed to
get 10,000 signatures, and the Government issued a
response on 28 August.
Watch out for more 8creators9 rights and AI9 campaigning to
come over the next few weeks and months.
With our new Awards programme timeline in action, we
were also keen to ensure we don9t go without an industrywide social event. We9re therefore excited to announce an
AOP Late Summer Social to be held at 93 Feet East on 16
September 2026 – so add it to your calendar now and book
your tickets.
We also have a number of industry events coming up in
September – on creative industry AI solutions, copyright,
clean power, and continuous lighting, check out the
newsletter for more details.
