THE 40% PROJECT
WITH CONTRIBUTIONS FROM MANY AOP F22 MEMBERS
Over the past 18 months, more than 130 women photographers (including many AOP f22 members) from
across the UK have volunteered their time and creativity to photograph the women MPs who now make up
more than 40% of the UK Parliament. The portraits have been created in Westminster, constituency offices,
town halls, community spaces, workplaces and locations chosen by the MPs themselves.
Together, the photographs form a remarkable visual record of a historic moment in women's
representation, while also celebrating the breadth, creativity and determination of the women behind the
camera - from students and emerging photographers to experienced professionals.
The online gallery is now live and the portraits are being brought together in the book 40%: Inspiring
Women MPs Photographed by Women, which is being created with independent publisher Image &
Reality.
