THE LAST FEW
A single image from a series born in Cuba,
where Fishing in the waters around Havana is
illegal, and most catches must be surrendered
to the state. Still, some of the city's poorest risk
the sea on makeshift rafts built from discarded
tractor inner tubes, determined to feed their
families, by venturing out to sea, they use
nothing more than inner tubes from tractors, as
makeshift fishing rafts. Each journey is an act of
survival and defiance. Once there were many.
Now, only the last few remain.
WILD WATER WOMEN
Cold water swimming is celebrated for its
physical benefits, this image which is part of a
series explores its profound impact on women's
mental wellbeing. Through intimate portraits, it
captures the emotional journey before, during
and after entering the water, revealing fear
transformed into resilience and empowerment.
Developed through a close connection with a
community of women who gather daily to
confront the cold, the images contrast the
tranquil beauty of the landscape with the dark,
untamed waters, reflecting the swimmers'
apprehension, courage and ultimate triumph.
