conversations.

AOP & AXIS MENTORING CONVERSATIONS
To mark the launch of this initiative co-chair of Axis Trustees and photographer JC Candanedo will be
joined by AOP board member Adam Shaw for an online round table discussion with a selection of
working AOP photographers. Along with short presentations of their work the conversation with circle
around ways in which contemporary artists can better tell the visual story about their practice.
Having in previous years offered similar mentoring support to Redeye, we are excited to further help
build up the creative industries wider community.

INAUGURAL AOP ICON AWARD
CHARLIE SWAN
Announced live at the 40th AOP Awards Showcase and presented by Hamish Crooks, AOP Chair
The AOP’s first recipient of the ICON Award was: Charles (Charlie) Swan, of Swan Turton
Charles Swan was an experienced lawyer and founding partner of the London media law firm Swan Turton LLP. As a
copyright specialist, his clients included leading advertising, marketing and design agencies, trade associations, image
libraries, photographers and agents. Known as Charlie Swan, he headed the firm's advertising and photography
groups and advised on a wide range of issues, and supported the AOP on legal advice for several decades, as well as
a former board director. In his retirement, he's an accomplished bird photographer.
