WORD FROM
OUR CEO
Earlier this month we celebrated 40 years of AOP
Photography Awards, with a record 34 Awards to hand
out. It was a very special evening, with our finalists,
judges, sponsors, and many industry colleagues, coming
together under one giant studio roof.
In 1984, we saw the very first AFAEP Awards successfully
launched, which eventually became the AOP Awards we
know today. The types of submissions the AOP received
back then reflected the type of advertising campaigns of
those times, mainly focused on brand products and B&W
portraiture.
Today, most submissions reflect a much more human
narrative, showcasing the diverse lives we lead. Our
members’ skill at storytelling continues unabated despite
the arrival of generative-AI, which as we know can only
imitate the talent and original creativity you all have as
photographers and image-makers.

OTHER INDUSTRY NEWS
I'd like to take this opportunity to again thank all 45
distinguished judges, and our amazing line up of
sponsors who without their generous support this
year we couldn't have delivered such an auspicious
Awards event:
MPB - our Headline Sponsor, Genesis Imaging - our
Showcase Sponsor, Capture One - with their Portrait
photo studio, EIZO, Fair Licensing by Pixray, Fujifilm
(sponsoring our Open Award), LaCie, Leica - who
celebrate 100 years, MOT Models - who like us
celebrate 40 years, PICSEL, Stone & Glow, Street
Studios, Wex Photo Video (sponsoring our Emerging
Talent Award), Williamson Carson, and our drinks
sponsor East London Brewing Company.
Also, a huge thank you to the AOP team, our Awards
Working Group and our dedicated board directors.
In this month's newsletter, we share our 40th AOP
Photography Awards winners, the latest news on
generative AI, and news from our members on their
recent work, projects and activities.
Take a look and be inspired!
